Wasn't sure if anyone would consider revealing who the next companion will be would be considered a spoiler or not, so figured I would just do an lj cut, just in case. You know me and my feelings about spoilers. >O

Karen Gillan will be coming on as the Doctor's new companion. She played a soothsayer in The Fires of Pompeii episode of DW. * Now has to go back and watch the episode again to see.* She's been in some other things, but is basically an unknown.
OT,

My mind has been so preoccupied with the lack of Tennant in the new season and, less so, the lack of Russel T. Davies, that it somehow completely left my mind until yesterday that there's going to be a new companion as well. It's like a whole new show! (Except not.) I'm am sad and excited and worried all at the same time, but I just keep putting those feelings aside by reminding myself that there's still more Tennant to be seen (and Donna's grandpa!)
And, I found out last night that Tennant is going to show up on two episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures. Not a cameo, but a "full-on appearance" as they put it. SJA stories usually cover two episodes each, so it makes sense that he would be in two if it's a "full-on appearance." And! His episodes are apparently airing before November, so we have less time to wait to see him than we originally thought! It doesn't which episodes he'll be in, but SJA starts in September.
ETA: Just finished watching the short comment from Russel T. Davies about Tennant's appearance on SJA from a BBC article about it and he says that it will probably be episodes 5 and 6 that Tennant is in. So that means he'll probably be on sometime in October. (I believe SJA plays one episode a week.) That means we'll see Tennant 3 months in a row. (October, November, and December.)
On a last note, while I was on BBC reading about North Korea >O and their nuclear issues, I look over to the right of the screen and what do I see? An ad for Torchwood for BBC America. It immediately brought a smile to my face and made me temporarily forget about NK's issues. July can't come soon enough!
