I have a new computer! \o/ Got a simple netbook and have been messing with it all night. I can now function a bit more properly. XD Just wanted to share the good news.
Was it a virus that killed your laptop? Because Mia's and Tareena's and rivers_bend all had their computers die, or nearly die, on them in the last three or four days because of that. River was able to get hers fixed, and Mia too - I think. Tareena is still waiting to hear back from her computer guy.
Oh man, that sucks. I don't know what exactly killed it. The BB guy who looked at it didn't get that far before pronouncing it dead and that I should just get a new computer.
Hmm... You might want to get a second opinion on that. In my experience, those BB guys aren't always 100% honest about computers, especially when they think they might be able to get a person to spend lots of $$ by telling them something less than truthful.
I don't have a good icon for this, so I'ma gonna use this one. :D Again.
Well there was an issue with the motherboard from something that happened months earlier and what it basically came down to was that it would be better if I just got a new computer instead of spending money to a) figure out what needed to be fixed and b) buy the hardware and pay to get it fixed.
Either way I was going to lose everything on my HD.
Oh, so it wasn't a virus that killed it. I guess I misunderstood since several others had a virus kill their computer at the same time. I get it now. :D
